Responsible Adult Course
This 20 hour online training enables job seekers to gain the skills necessary to work with children in licensed child care facilities or schools in BC.
Through interactive sessions, the Online Responsible Adult Course covers basic concepts about child development from birth to 12 years of age, child guidance, health, safety and nutrition.
The government of British Columbia has now mandated Responsible Adult Course training for all individuals working with children.
This Online Responsible Adult course meets the BC Child Care Licensing Act requirements for individuals to have at least 20 hours of childcare training including safety, child development and nutrition in order to work with children.
Our Responsible Adult Course online training qualifies job seekers in BC to gain the experience necessary for working with children. The best part is that the course is self paced. Students can start the course when it’s convenient for them, and complete when they are ready. There is no time limit.
Upon payment, students receive a welcome email with login instructions. The student can click the link in the email to get started on the lessons. There are practice quizzes throughout the course, and a multiple choice final exam at the end. All portions of the course are completed online, and there are no extra workbooks needed.
After completing the final exam, students will be emailed a certificate of completion, which can be used to gain employment in licensed child care facilities.
Our Online Responsible Adult Course is also sponsored by WorkBC. This means government funding may be available through local employment centres to take this course. Applicants must be active job seekers and apply to be clients of their local employment centre. Visit our Government Funding page for more details.

Online Course Testimonial
The Online Responsible Adult course was so simple to enroll into and complete! From start to finish the course is very informative and simple to follow along.
Roxanne as an instructor has been great! She got back to my emails quickly and was always available to answer my questions when I had any.
What I love the most about the course is how in depth it was. It even goes over how to work with children with different health needs, which I think is important for anyone going into the field.
After finishing the Responsible Adult course and taking the exam I feel confident I will be able to perform at my new job with a better understanding of how to be a responsible adult.Ray Thompson
